Pilates classes

Our classes are run on a course basis with each class lasting one hour in duration. Through running classes on a course basis it allows the Instructor to get to know the individual needs of Clients so that exercises can be adapted where appropriate. It is also preferable that Clients start at the beginning of a course as classes are progressive.

Types of classes

Beginners

Our Beginners Class is aimed at those new to Pilates or who have not participated in Pilates for some time. Participants will lean the correct techniques of Pilates before progressing onto basic level exercises using core abdominal and stabilising muscles to improve strength, posture and movement. The Classes are run as a course lasting six weeks.

Intermediate

This Class is for those who have completed the Beginners Class or who have some previous experience of Pilates. Participants will progress from basic level exercises and begin to incorporate various pieces of equipment as well as layering exercises. Each course lasts the duration of the School term with a one week break to coincide with the School half term holiday.

Pilates for Runners

Running puts untold stress and strain on the body which can often lead to injury. This Class has been designed to teach runners of all abilities injury prevention exercises of the major muscle groups as well as improved core stability, strength and flexibility. Each course lasts the duration of the School term with a one week break to coincide with the School half term holiday.

Pilates for Injury Rehabilitation

We run several specialist classes aimed at those with specific conditions. Classes are limited to six per class with instruction from both a Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor with specialist knowledge of the subject area.

Pilates for Back Pain

Many of us have or will suffer from lower back pain at some point in our life. Participants will be taught a series of Pilates based exercises specially designed for the prevention and management of lower back pain including improved posture, increased core stability and increased strength and flexibility of the back.

Lower Limb

Hip and knee injuries are common as are the number of people undergoing hip and knee replacements. Participants attending this course will benefit from Pilates based exercises focused on aiding the rehabilitation and recovery from various hip and knee conditions including: osteoarthritis, hip/knee replacements, ligament injuries and bursitis.

Shoulder

This Class offers Pilates based exercises specifically tailored for those suffering with or recovering from shoulder injuries including rotator cuff injury, frozen shoulder, shoulder surgery, shoulder dislocation and impingement syndrome. Participants will learn shoulder stability  exercises to improve functional and pain free movement for everyday living as well as decreasing the risk of further injury.

Our Pilates for Injury Rehabilitation Classes are held for up to a maximum of six participants with a course lasting 6 weeks in duration. Participants can if they then wish to continue with Pilates based exercises join one of Intermediate Pilates Classes

Class sizes and charges (excluding Pilates for Rehabilitaton)

Large Group Classes – These classes are limited to a maximum of eight people per class.

Small Groups – are held for a maximum of four people which allows the Instructor to provide more individual attention and specific feedback on each participant.

One to One Sessions – these sessions allow the Instructor to work on an individual basis with the participant catering solely for their specific needs.
